The twins where, thankfully, still asleep. Hazel had checked in on them as she passed by Vihn's room. She had wondered when the twins hadn't come sneaking in to her and Davin's bed where they had gone off to, but it looks like the company of Vihn had been to good to resist... they where asleep on the floor, their little deer bodies sprawled out across the floor... The sight had made her smile. The twins had really been growing to like Vihn more and more, looking up to her almost as an older sister influence, Hazel mulled over this as she left the hall way and entered the tribe kitchen. Setting the kettle on the stove, already filled with water form when she had gone to bed last night, she grabbed a cup and a bag of tea while she waited for it to boil. Everyone had an hour or so before dawn really came upon them but she had always been a morning person and liked this little cosy, quiet, time to herself before the day got started. She would have her cup of tea, visit with any early risers, and get started cooking a large tribe breakfast. It was the least she could do, since she hardly ever hunted or brought anything back from her walks anymore... Mostly because with the twins her walks rarely ever went far enough to really explore new places. Of course, now that they where getting older perhaps things would change. Soon she'd have to start allowing them to help out with tribe stuff, teach them how to be part of the tribe and find their place within it. It was because of this she had actually participated in a breeding this month.... She hadn't done that for ages and she owned neither of the tokota's, both with the dwarfism gene, but she figured that they would be a good start for teaching the twins how to handle tokota's.
Besides, they where adorable and would make good starting mounts for the kids, so that when they went out she could ride Kibwe and they could ride the toki's.
The tea kettle began to whistle and she went over to it, with a dishcloth on her hand she moved the hot kettle off the stove, and poured the hot water in to her cup before placing the kettle on the counter. She added some creme and sugar, stirring it all around for a moment. Then, taking the cup, she carefully went to the table, sitting herself by the window so she could look out at the barn. She always tended to keep an eye on things, watching out for loved ones came naturally to her.
She took a sip of her tea, breathing deeply. The hot water always felt so good as a start to her day.

Davin groaned slightly as he felt Hazel start up her morning. A gust of cool air filled the space she had once occupied prompting him to pull the covers closer to his body. He never really liked getting up as early as she did but he was slowly adapting to it. He definitely had to with the arrival of the twins. His sleeping schedule had been skewed completely from what it once was. He found himself taking shifts to get up in the middle of the night to see what was the cause of a late night cry only to wake up a few hours later to rinse and repeat. Thankfully now that the twins were older they had begun to sleep through the night; minus the times they fled their room in favor of joining himself and Hazel in their bed.
Now that the two young children were getting older it wouldn't be long before Hazel and he would start teaching them about tokotas and how to handle them. The blonde elf had already brought up the idea of getting a couple of dwarf tokotas to begin with. He had been a little surprised at the idea but easily agreed with it. It would be a good starting point. The tokis were smaller compared to a normal tokota and a little bit more domesticated. That isn't to say they were like dogs, but they were regularly bred for a more docile demeanor and would be much easier to handle for a first timer. The twins were already well acquainted with the common tokotas around the tribe; however, Davin had to be very cautious during every meeting to make sure nothing went awry. While their tokotas could be the friendliest of beings they still were extremely dangerous if something went wrong. It definitely didn't help that little Dmitri had trouble holding a single form when his emotions ran high. Majority of the tokotas were trained to hunt deer and while Davin knew which tokotas he could change around without worry, Dmitri didn't and couldn't stop himself from the change. It was something Davin hoped his young son would grow out of and/or figure out soon. He was worried to say the least.
Davin heard Hazel's footsteps pad away and down the hall. He knew she was checking in on their little angels. He smiled softly but kept his eyes closed in hopes of catching a few more minutes of rest. Last night had been a fairly late one spent checking over the ledger of Cross Creek. A cart of pelts and excess meat had been sent out to the nearest trading post to be sold and distributed as needed. He was there to mark down all that had left the tribe and what was brought back in return. Although they were fairly self-sustaining, the tribe still needed necessities they could not provide themselves such as fruit and spices.
Davin snoozed for a few minutes longer before faintly hearing Hazel in the kitchen. He sat up and sighed. He ran a hand over his face as he tossed the warm blankets back and threw his legs over the edge of the bed. The chilly morning air hit his skin and sent a shiver through his body prompting him to quickly pull pants and a shirt on. He scratched at the stubble along his chin as he stood and exited the bedroom.
The strawberry blond man spotted her sitting near one of the windows looking outside. He walked over as she took a sip of her tea and wrapped his arms around her shoulders. "Mornin' love," he murmured after planting a kiss on her hair. He turned his head to see what she might have been looking at and spied one of the barns. "The twins okay?" he asked.

Hazel had heard footsteps coming down the hallway, but not quite been awake enough to turn. Still, she supposed it was about time that everyone would start waking up and thusly she should be ready to greet them with breakfast. She hadn't even started it yet... She supposed today would be a good waffle day, the recipe for the batter was relatively simple and then she could pretty much just leave people to put them in the waffle iron as they awoke. Yes, that way everyone got warm pancakes cooked just to their liking. Still, her mind was having trouble staying focused on that, losing her focus to simple thoughts and daydreams as she drank her tea, that was, until she felt familiar arms wrap around her as a kiss was planted on her head. She smiled. She hadn't expected it to be Davin, but she leaned into him anyway, breathing deeply. He had always seemed to have such a calming effect on her, one at times that she desperately needed.
"Good morning you. " she replied, smiling at him. "I found the twins if Vihn's room this morning... I'm not sure she will like the hoof prints on her clothes but maybe that'll gov eyer reason to keep her clothes off the floor. I know it's her room... but I swear they start to flow into the hallway every chance they get." She said, laughing. Vihn could easily be her own kind of hurricane, rushing through tokota activities with extreme energy and passion, but always somewhat chaotically. Or at least, thats how it looked to hazel, goodness knows maybe it was just her after having taken such slower pace at life.
She reached up and grabbed a mug from the cupboards, sliding it over to him.
"Kettle just boiled, bags are on the counter. Or there's coffee in the pot if you prefer hun. What are your plans for today?" She asked, mostly curious because unlike her he tended to get out a little more than she did. it was bad really, how little she got out... but she kinda didn't mind. She was not the restless type, staying here and making sure things at the tribe lodge where running smoothly. If it weren't for her tokota's which did need to get out now and then, and her twins which where getting harder and harder to tire our properly, she'd have probably been happy never leaving the tribe. Then again... She loved sightseeing which was what drew her to loving exploring so much.
